The Holy Books, Bible and Quran admonish us to be kind hearted and be cheerful givers all days of our lives. This means charitable activities must not be limited strictly to special days or festive seasons such as Christmas, Easter, Idr-Adha among others. Being charitable must be a lifestyle because even the most closefisted and unkind hearts will embark on benevolent acts to court public attention and praise during festive seasons.
Over the years SnG Foundation of Hope has relentlessly supported schools, orphanages and selected widowhood associations across the country with donations. The foundation believes that it is a shared responsibility to cater for the vulnerable in society through its social corporate responsibility projects. Supporting these groups is seen as a kind gesture towards humanity.
SnG Foundation of Hope is a registered non-profit organization with roots in Canada that seeks to help orphanages, schools, hospitals and communities that lack basic social amenities through incessant donations.
Mr Gideon Ankrah, co-founder and country director of SnG Foundation of Hope and some members of staff visited New Life Nungua Childrens Home in the Greater Accra Region and donated assorted items worth thousands of Ghana cedis and a sum of Ghc 1,000 for the upkeep of the orphans. The donated items comprise stationary, cash, toiletries, detergents, biscuits, milk, bags of rice, cartons of bar soaps, gallons of frytol cooking oil, and other domestic items from benevolent individuals who always delight in supporting a worthy cause.
Nii Afotey Botchwey II, the Managing Director and founder of the orphanage received the items on behalf of the home and expressed his delight and gratitude for the kind gesture by SnG Foundation Ghana. He made a passionate appeal to other non governmental organizations, individuals and co-operate bodies to emulate this charitable course through their co-operate social responsibility programmes.
He informed the audience about how arduous it is to run such a home unblemishly for the past 18 years due to the high number of children on roll and the associated exorbitant cost of feeding, shelter among others. He revealed that such donations helps to keep children off the streets by giving them a purpose-driven life. A situation that goes a long to ensure that these aimlessly wandering children do not cultivate criminal behaviours that has the muscle to destabilize the peace and security of the country. He asserted that New Life Nungua Childrens Home is renowned for judiciously using items and cash from donors for the intended purposes.
Nii Afotey Botchwey II solemnly promised to keep taking good care of the children by prioritizing their welfare.
